Jeanne M. Long (née Mathieu), aged 93, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on September 4, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, Jeanne lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and community.

A proud graduate of Hirsch High School in Chicago, Class of 1950, Jeanne's smile, charisma and determination shone brightly throughout her life. She began her career as a Superstar Tupperware Sales Manager, achieving remarkable success that included earning multiple awards and even a car for her exceptional efforts. Later, she transitioned into a distinguished 35-year career as a Realtor on the Southwest side of Chicago. Her genuine heart, professionalism and integrity earned her many accolades and the respect of neighbors and colleagues alike.

Jeanne's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of St. Denis Church in Chicago from 1968 to 1995, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and contributed to the church community by volunteering and coordinating Denis Days fundraising events, becoming a nursing home Eucharistic Minister, participating in Bible study groups, and teaching Confirmation classes. After moving to Tinley Park, Illinois, she continued her devotion at St. George Catholic Church from 1995 to 2018, where her heart still belongs. There she served as a Eucharistic Minister once again while also joining the Welcoming Committee and Diversity Ministry and assisting with weekly offertory counting.

Jeanne's bright light, smile and vibrant personality left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path. Known for her love of slot machines, carnivals, games, movies, books, coffee, ice cream, caramel candy, and meeting new people, Jeanne had a way of bringing honest joy wherever she went. Her warmth radiated through her signature smile that made everyone feel seen, loved, welcomed and valued. With love and kindness at the heart of all she did—working, volunteering and simply listening without judgment—she truly lit up every room she entered.

She is survived by her eldest son Michael Haas (Norma), son George Long and youngest son David Long (Roman Anguiano); granddaughter Norma Erika Gelushia (Bryan) and great-grandson Ryker Gelushia; grandson Michael Haas Jr. (Crystal) and great-grandsons Christian, Isaiah, and Jensen Haas; along with her beloved sisters Margaret Baker and Mary Kern (Harold). Jeanne was predeceased by her soulmate and loving husband Leon Long as well as her loving brothers Jack, Bud, Bill and Jim Mathieu.

Jeanne's friends and family will forever cherish the memories of her radiant smile and the unconditional love she shared so freely. Her legacy of kindness, forgiveness and genuine compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. George Catholic Church located at 6707 W. 171st Street in Tinley Park. Following the service will be a Life Celebration Party nearby in Tinley Park, IL.

And/Or
Take some extra time to visit someone who might feel lonely. Share a meal, have a cup of coffee or give them flowers. While hugging them, let them know they are loved and valued.
Jeanne has done this countless times throughout her life and it would be a very fitting tribute.
