Jeff Hataburda

1963 - 2026

Jeffery (Jeff) F. Hataburda, age 62, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. Born in the city of Elmwood Park, Illinois in 1963, Jeff was the beloved son of the late Fred Hataburda and Eileen Alexandersson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hataburda; his children, Jeffrey (Madysen) Hataburda and Nicole Hataburda; and his cherished granddaughter, Harper Hataburda. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Magin, along with many extended family members including nephews, nieces, uncle, aunt, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, and his mother- and father-in-law.

Jeff and Mary built a life together grounded in love, commitment, and partnership. Through the years, they created a home filled with laughter, support, and unwavering devotion to one another and their family. Their 36 years of marriage were a true testament.

Jeff will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. Known by many as one of the nicest people you could meet, he brought humor and positivity wherever he went. His presence had a way of lifting others, and his laughter will be deeply missed.

A devoted family man, Jeff would drop anything to be there for those he loved. Whether it was offering support, sharing advice, or simply spending time together, his family always came first.

He built a life through hard work and dedication as an electrician in the trades, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. His strong work ethic and reliability were a point of pride and an example to those around him. Having spent his life bringing light wherever he went, it brings comfort to know that because of him, Heaven will never be dark.

Outside of work and spending time with family and friends, Jeff loved sports, music, and was a foodie at heart. He could often be found watching games of all kinds, and he took great joy in coaching his children, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and character. He'd enjoy listening to everything from classic rock and alternative favorites to heartfelt country playlists. Around the holidays, he especially cherished playing Christmas music on the record player, filling the home with warmth, nostalgia, and the simple joy of the season.

To many, he was more than just a husband, dad, son, and brother; he was also a coach, mentor, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. His impact reached far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation and funeral services are currently being planned and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in his memory.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
