Jeffrey Grayson, age 75, of Chantilly, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Born July 29, 1950 in Levittown, Long Island, New York, Jeff's life was marked by curiosity, kindness, and deep devotion to those he loved. He carried a lifelong passion for learning and discovery, which shaped both his career and the way he approached the world.
Jeff was a proud graduate of Binghamton University, where he met the love of his life, Tina, in 1970. Their 55-year partnership was the foundation of a marriage filled with love and laughter, family pursuits and adventures. His professional career began as a manager at IBM, where his intelligence and leadership were widely respected. After the family moved from New York to Virginia, he followed his calling to education, becoming a Fairfax County Public Schools science teacher and inspiring students through his own enthusiasm for learning and the natural world.
Jeff was actively involved in many interests. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, meteorology, geology, science fiction, aerospace, environmental topics, and travel. He was also a bird-watcher, but appreciated all animals-especially dogs-and most especially, his dog Nellie.
His greatest passion was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Jeff will be remembered for his wisdom, humor, patience, and gentle kindness. He had a gift for making others laugh, offering thoughtful guidance, and creating a sense of calm and warmth. His presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Grayson; his daughter, Samantha (Brendon); his son, Lucas (Amber); his four grandchildren, Grayson, Maya, Parker, and Oliver; and dear extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Century Oak Clubhouse, 12705 Misty Creek Lane, Fairfax, Virginia 22033.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jeff's commitment to people, animals, and the environment, please consider contributing to Doctors Without Borders, ASPCA, or the Environmental Defense Fund in Jeff's memory.
