Jeremy Milton Katz, 83, of Wauwatosa, WI, passed away at home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with thyroid cancer.
Born December 2, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, to Ruth and Manual Katz, Jeremy grew up in St. Louis Park, where he graduated from High School in 1960. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College in 1964 and a PhD from the University of Michigan in 1973. A dedicated clinical psychologist, Jeremy's career spanned more than 50 years. He founded Nursing Home Enhancement Professionals (NHEP) and remained active in his work until his retirement in 2025.
Jeremy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra Katz; his children, Jennifer Feeback (Justin), Rachel Madding (Shawn McBride), Wendy Katz, Philip Katz, and Stephanie Giard; nine grandchildren; and his siblings, Howard Katz (Barbara) and Judith Blake (Patrick).
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Nathan Swailes; his brother-in-law, Perry Swailes; his son-in-law, Christopher Madding; and grandchild, Faith Madding.
Jeremy will be remembered for his eccentricity, outgoing spirit and ability to fill any room with energy and conversation. Both kind and stubborn, he had a special love for animals—especially dogs—and seemed to know every pup in the neighborhood by name. Known for his colorful language, habitual lateness, and verbosity, Jeremy's warmth, humor, and genuine love for others made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
