Lester Rhodes Moulton, lll - "Jerry" 3/28/1934 - 11/30/2025

Jerry was born in Winchester, MA to Evelyn Elsie Pullman and Lester Rhodes Moulton, Jr. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy for 9th-12th grades followed by Harvard University where he was on the sailing team, was on staff at the Harvard Lampoon, earned a BA in Economics in 1957, and where he met the love of his life, "Betsy" (Elizabeth Brandt Adams). They married in 1957 and moved to Marblehead, MA where their three daughters were born. Jerry was an executive in textile manufacturing for most of his career, (as well as short stints in boat sales and bottled water packaging/sales). The family moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1965 and Pittsburgh, PA in 1969. In 1973, the family moved to Newport Beach, CA where Jerry was finally able to get back to his ocean sailing roots.

Jerry's love of sailing, and particularly racing, started during summers in Marblehead through his family's membership in Corinthian Yacht Club. He loved participating in the junior sailing program at Pleon YC where he developed his passion for youth sailing programs. In Newport Beach, he quickly found a community of sailors who were as passionate as he was. He was a commodore at South Shore YC, reinvigorated the junior sailing program at Bahia Corinthian YC, and served NOSA (Newport Ocean Sailing Association) through the Newport to Ensenada race for many years, including as a commodore. He served as a racing judge and was awarded Emeritus Judge status by US Sailing. He also supported Betsy's love for the Pacific Chorale as she sang and served on various boards.

Beyond sailing, Jerry's greatest joy came from his family members and friends. He is survived by his three daughters Jill Cavanaugh, Lee Davis (Mark), and Kit Newman (Rick), as well as his nephews Robert Hastings, Jr. and Roger Hastings, and his niece Susanne Hastings. His grandchildren are Emily Davis (Jeff Cirillo), Nick Curci (Claire Ramser), Danny Davis (Tina Parks), Erin Cavanaugh, Katie Curci, Chris Davis (Juliana Bontrager), and Liam Cavanaugh. He has seven great-grandchildren: Elliot, Lydia, Lily, Lucy, Penelope, Adeline, and Shiloh.
