Jerry Ratliff, 81, passed away on December 20, 2025, in Rocklin, California. A proud veteran and devoted family man, Jerry's life was marked by dedication, resilience, and a deep-rooted sense of duty.
Born on March 15, 1944, in Cinco, West Virginia, Jerry grew up with the values of hard work and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating high school in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and went directly from graduation to boot camp. His military career spanned two decades, during which he served primarily in the Philippines. Rising through the ranks with steadfast commitment, Jerry retired in 1982 as a Master Sergeant (E7), a testament to his leadership and discipline.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Jerry settled in the Sacramento area of California. Known for being hard-working and deeply southern in character—traits that shaped both his personal and professional life—he remained active and engaged with those around him. His stubborn determination was matched only by his loyalty to those he cared about.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Mila Ratliff; his son, Michael Ratliff; and his daughter, Melissa Burns. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-grandchild who will carry forward his legacy. His siblings—Richard Leon Ratliff, Diana Graelis, Drema Woods, and Donna Meyers—also mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Garnet Stone and Leonard Albert Ratliff; brothers Jimmy Ratliff and Roger Ratliff; daughter Gina Ratliff Seay; and granddaughter Charlee MacKenzie Ratliff.
May Jerry's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with strength and purpose. A Viewing will be held on January 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetary and Funeral Center 7100 Verner Ave. in Citrus Heights, CA. There will be a viewing and Rosary beginning at 10am.
