Colonel Jesse Abreu, U.S. Army Ranger, all Army all the time. Husband to the beautiful Maritza Abreu, whom I witnessed falling instantly in love on a hot summer late night at Denny’s on Collins Avenue some 33 years before. His “sweet boy,” Jackson Abreu, is their son.
Jesse, the firstborn son of Evelio and Edilia Abreu, will be dearly missed, yet for a little while. “I had great parents”, Jesse would say.
A world-class personality, Jesse lived a spectacular existence from start to finish. His magnetic attraction and charm were experienced by the many who knew him.
The family of cousins, I think, will be forever impressed at seeing him grow from boy to man of the uniform in service to this great nation of ours, the United States of America. I pray that everyone who reads these words, as Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.”
