Obituary - Jesse "Allen" Laxton

Jesse "Allen" Laxton, 78, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Allen was born on December 5, 1947, in Asco, West Virginia, and was raised in Davy and Twin Branch, West Virginia. He graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1965. After graduating, he proudly joined the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably for six years. Following his military service, he settled in Newport News, Virginia, where he began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, faithfully serving his community for 30 years before retiring. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jean (Gibson) Laxton, the love of his life, whom he married in 1987. Their marriage was built on deep love, commitment, and a shared devotion to their family. He is also survived by his children: Scott Laxton; Stacey Clouse (Jeffery); Justin Boyd (Melissa); Misty Boyd; and Rebecca Rose (Colom). His surviving grandchildren include Madilyn, Kaitlyn, Ian, Emmalee, Liberty, Laila, and Leona. He is also survived by his siblings: Warner Laxton (Brenda), Hannah Matthews, and Steve Laxton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas "Chalk" Laxton, Jr., and Emma Laxton; his brother, Timothy Laxton; and one grandson, Chase Boyd. Allen was an avid golfer and will be remembered by those who knew him as a man of quiet strength, kindness, and deep humility. To his family, he was the most selfless man they ever knew, always putting the needs of others before his own. His love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family defined his life and will remain his lasting legacy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and nurses of Riverside Hospice for the comfort, dignity, and kindness they provided during his final days. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. No services are planned at this time.
