Jesse Michael James Miller Keyser, known to most as "Mike," passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 53.

Born on March 8, 1973, in Huntington, WV, Mike grew up in Beckley, WV. He was the son of Doris Keyser and Linda & Russell Smith, all of whom preceded him in death.

Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He completed basic training at Parris Island, SC, and went on to serve with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines. While stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, he excelled in sniper training—an accomplishment that reflected his discipline, focus, and strength of character. He later made his way to Akron, Ohio, to be near family.

Mike never met a stranger. Wherever he went, people were drawn to him. He had a way of talking to and befriending everyone—whether at Lynn's Bar, the NorthSide Saloon, a pool hall, or just crossing paths in everyday life. He was the kind of guy who would stop to help someone broken down on the side of the road without hesitation.

He loved the simple things—country roads, country music, the rumble of his motorcycle, and time spent outdoors. He was a skilled martial artist, earning a black belt in jujitsu, and he enjoyed competing in local pool tournaments. When he wasn't collecting unique treasures, you could find him tinkering with his bike or spending time at the range.

Mike had a deep love for animals and is reunited in death with his faithful companions, "Black Cat" and "Dog." He leaves behind his loyal canine companion, Bella, who was by his side through it all.

He is survived by his long-term companion, Mary Wood and her sons, Gilbert and Gavin; his sisters, Lynn Large (Tim), Tammy Covington (James), and Angela Singh (Bobby); many nieces and nephews; his best friend and Marine Corps brother, Jason "Bull" Bullis (Danielle); and countless friends who became family along the way.

Mike was a proud and upstanding man—a fighter in every sense of the word. He lived with a deep sense of loyalty and integrity; values he demonstrated daily. If he stood beside you, he stood all the way. He was a good friend, a solid brother, and a fun uncle. He will be deeply missed.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28

And if you're looking for Mike, seek him in the quiet moments—in the buzz of a bee, the rhythm of falling rain, the hum of the open road, the wind through the trees, the giggle of a baby, the eyes of a loyal furry companion... that's where he'll be.

"Love doesn't die,
People do.
So, when all that's left of me
Is love,
Give me away."

Rest easy brother. We've got the watch from here. Semper Fidelis-Always Faithful.

A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held at Lynn's Bar on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM (334 E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave., Akron, Oh 44310). As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services. Cremation has taken place.
