Jesús Ramirez Gonzales was born on July 23, 1936, in the small farming town of Tornillo, Texas. At age 17, he left home to serve in the U.S. Navy, and upon returning home to nearby El Paso, he met the love of his life, Teresa, as she was walking home from church. Jesús and Teresa would spend the next 67 years together in Southern California, raising their sons Jesse (Sue), Eddie (Michealene), and Alex (Alena); and doting on their grandchildren Jessica (Allan), Brandyn (Glynn), Alexys, Ray, and Alyssa, and great-grandchildren Rylee and Westyn.
Jesús loved to talk to people and made friends wherever he'd go. When his kids were younger, he helped coach them in football and baseball (go Dodgers!) and volunteered with his wife at their school activities. He was an avid reader, and loved to read books on politics, history, and religion. He loved to laugh, listen to good, soulful music like Freddy Fender and The Five Satins, and connect with family and friends over a hot meal or strong cup of coffee. He was a foodie before the term existed, and just like the life he lived, he took the time to savor every moment of every bite of life. He was the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave a party. He was one-of-a-kind and the world is better for having him in it.
Jesús passed away peacefully at home with his wife and sons by his side on November 29, 2025. While he left us Earthside, we take comfort in knowing that he joined his mother (Elena), father (Sostenes), siblings Maria, Angelina, Carmen, and Richard, and several friends and family pets in Heaven. In addition to his wife, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, whom he all adored, Jesús is survived by his sisters Teresa and Concha, and brother Daniel.
To know Jesús was to love him. He made everyone feel special and had a warm smile and quiet giggle that was hard to resist. And we are so incredibly blessed to have called him ours.
A private Celebration of Life is being held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association.
