Jim Solum

Beloved water polo coach Jim D. Solum passed away this week after an illness. A lifelong coach and writer, Jim was a professor of Sociology and a chiropractor before devoting his life full time to the science of water polo shooting techniques. He published three books on the subject and wrote over seventy articles for Waterpolo Planet. He privately trained four Olympic players, seven players on the US Senior National Team, and fifty Division I players. Jim is survived by his brother Andy Solum (Donna), his nephew Casey Solum (Sarah), his daughter Nicole Singh (Arjan) and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to USA Waterpolo.
