Jimmie Lee Boone was the youngest child born to Clenzie and Clory B. Hayes Boone in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on April 23, 1937. In 1957, Jimmie graduated from Royal Street High School.
Jimmie was introduced to and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and was a faithful member of New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and in the Male Chorus. He was also an honorary member of the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church where his grandson is the Pastor. His love and dedication to GOD and church was instilled in his family.
He was employed by Inland Steel and retired after 25 years of service. He worked hard to provide for his family. He raised his children and grandchildren and was very supportive of all of their accomplishments.
Jimmie served in World War II as an Airborne Ranger. He was stationed in Texas and Germany and was honorably discharged after 2 years of service.
Jimmie Lee is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years: Shirley T. Boone, son: Eric R. Boone, 5 brothers: Rev. Clyde Boone, Eddie Boone, Freddie Boone, James Boone and Claude Boone, sister: Helen Hollingsworth, son-in-law: Luna Holmes, granddaughter: Jamelia Irby, great grandsons: Jakryi, Tyler and Baby Lewis, and best friend, Calvin Crenshaw.
Jimmie Lee leaves to cherish his loving memories: daughters: Sonia Boone-Holmes and Rosalind (Darnell) Irby, 4 grandsons: Rev. Dr. Eric (Tereka) Boone, Sr., Darnell "DJ" Irby, Jr., Rev. Jason (DeAna) Watson Sr., and Eric Moore, 8 granddaughters: Kimberly (Reginald) Johnson, Shantell Boone, Shamika McIntosh, Roshanta Hudson, Aerrisha Boone, Erica Boone, Jerykah Taylor, and Anita Davis, 33 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson, brother: Charles "Buster" Boone, 2 sisters in law: Edna Barden and Ollie Boone. 3 Godchildren: Jimmie Hughes, Jennene Millender and Jeneen Hopson-Thompson, life long neighbor: Mary Sterling, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
