Joan “Joanne” Carol Everhart Stone

Joan "Joanne" Stone (Everhart) passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. She grew up in Forestville, NY, and graduated from Forestville High School. Joanne was known for her kindness, grace, compassion, and love for family and friends. Throughout her life, she consistently expressed gratitude for the joy of living.

Joanne is survived by two sisters, Elaine Kapuscinski and Betty Louise Glass; one daughter, Melissa Meurs; two sons, Shawn Stone (Mary Nell) and Randy Stone (Janet); four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents, Russell "Tut" and Agnes "Rosie" Everhart; a sister, Virginia Kittinger; and a brother, James "Jim" Everhart.

After retiring from Emory School of Theology, Joanne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: Ashley, Penny, Patrick, and Travis. She was also a dedicated member of Central Congregational Church and participated in various volunteer roles throughout her life.

A memorial service celebrating Joanne's remarkable life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Central Congregational Church in Atlanta, GA. We invite all who knew and loved Joanne to join us in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Congregational Church.
