Joan Nevelus

Mrs. Joan Francis Nevelus (née Pickard), age 85, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Milford, Connecticut. Born on November 22, 1940, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Ruth Pickard.

Joan was a proud graduate of Bassick High School and began her career as a phone operator for Southern New England Telephone. She later devoted herself to raising her three beloved sons, Peter, Michael, and Joseph. Her dedication to her family was unwavering and brought her immense joy throughout her life.

Joan’s vibrant personality made her a social and fun-loving presence among all who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together and create lasting memories filled with laughter and warmth. Her love for life was evident in every interaction, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to share in her company.

She is survived by her three sons—Peter, Michael, his wife Veronica, and Joseph—and her granddaughter Sarah. Joan was predeceased by her husband Peter and grandson Max, whose memories she held close to her heart.
