Joan Ronson

1933 - 2026

Joan Ronson (née Pfeifer), born in Mount Vernon, New York, lived in The Bronx most of her life. She was the matriarch of a large, devoted family, passed away at the age of 93.
Born on March 12, 1933, to Estelle and Albert Pfeifer, Joan grew up with a spirited New York heart. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sandy Ronson, and more recently by her cherished older brother, Max Pfeifer, who passed away at 98 in June 2025.
Joan was a devoted NYC special education teacher, having spent over 30 years teaching at several schools all in The Bronx.
Joan's greatest legacy is her family. She was the loving mother of three sons: Mark (70), Steve (67), and Alan (58). Her life was further enriched by her six grandchildren—Lindsay, Michael, Justin, Evan, Charlotte, and Josie—and her two great-granddaughters, Grayson and Camryn, all of whom brought her immense joy in her later years.
Known for her resilience and her deep roots, Joan will be remembered as a steadying force for her sons and a cherished link to her family's Bronx beginnings.
