JoAnn (Greenwell) Green, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her ancestral home on November 8, 2025. She was eighty-eight years old.
JoAnn was born on November 29, 1936 to Joseph Victor Greenwell and the former Rosalee "Rose" Viola Schwerman. She is survived by four children from her first-husband, Frank E. Ash: Michael D. Ash, Nancy L. Dewald, Beverly A. Willman (Mike), and Laurie A. Wolberton, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Louisville, except for a few years in the 1980s cowgirling it near Houston, Texas while married to her second-husband Jerry Green.
JoAnn loved her vibrant social life. She maintained a close friendship with a group of women, some from her school days at Presentation Academy, that relished meeting for "club" every month for many years. She enjoyed card games, board games, light novels, rooting for her University of Louisville Cardinals basketball team, and watching TV game shows and Hallmark movies with a warm dog on her lap.
According to her wishes, JoAnn was cremated. Her family will honor her with a Celebration of Life on November 29, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Aero Club of Louisville. Friends and loved ones please visit to remember the good times we had with her.
