Joe Ellis left this earth on January 12th 2026.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Ollie Wilburn and Ida Pearl Baisden Ellis, his sister Mary Ruth Vance, and brothers Walter Lewis, Charles Edward, and Willie Ray Ellis, and his daughter Angie Hunter.
He is survived by his sister Mollie (Tom) Bontrager, son Keith (Liz) Ellis, daughter Ida Farr, Step daughters Dana Tigges, and Amanda Cole, his grandchildren Matthew, Chad, Sandra, Ashley, Sarah, David, Trae, Ammiti, Kiarah, and many great grand children.
Joe was a resident of Lorida, Florida. He was an avid fisherman. He loved being on a lake looking for bass, crappie, perch, or anything else he could hook into. He was always happy if he was on a lake.
Joe was also a successful design engineer. After a major injury when he was very young, he could have been on disability for the rest of his life. But that wasn't Joe. He got his GED, then went back to college to get his degree and make his own way. After many years of working for companies like Boeing, Honda, and many others, he finally retired to spend time with family, and more time on the lakes.
A celebration of life will be held near what would have been his 81st birthday on June 20th, 2026 in Ohio. Location to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, go to a lake. spend some time thinking about Joe, and maybe he will be there an help you land a big one.
