Joel A. Jackson, born on December 26, 1956, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Joel shared his birthday and an extraordinary bond with his twin brother, Noel A. Jackson.
A graduate of Capitol Senior High School's Class of 1974, Joel and Noel co-owned and operated The Music Treasure Chest on North Acadian in Baton Rouge. Their business became a cherished hub for local and distant musical artists, earning them admiration and respect in the music community. Later in life, Joel worked at the L'Auberge Casino before joining the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board as a maintenance worker, where he was employed until his illness.
Joel's life was marked by the unwavering support of his twin brother, Noel. Their connection was described as inseparable—a bond like no other. Special recognition is given to Noel for his dedication and care during Joel's illness.
Joel is survived by his twin brother, Noel A. Jackson, and wife Sherlyn Propes-Jackson; his sister, Shirley D. Jackson-Evans; his daughter, Jhasmine R. Jackson-Martin, and her husband Jeremy; four grandchildren: Javion Washington, Jhase Jackson, Kingston Martin, and Kennedi Martin; and two step-grandchildren: Remington and Kensington Martin—all residing in Tallahassee, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley "Papa Jack" Jackson and Vera Sterling Jackson, as well as his brother Shelby Joseph Jackson.
Joel's memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared with family and friends. May his legacy bring comfort to those who knew him.
