John Nicholas Ashley

John Nicholas Ashley, a man whose life was defined by hard work, tenacity, a knack for storytelling and an infectious sense of humor, passed away in San Diego on March 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in the County of Wiltshire, England on March 13, 1939, John brought his spirited energy to the United States in the 80's, eventually settling in the coastal beauty of San Diego.

A dedicated contractor for more than six decades across two continents, John was the backbone of his real estate ventures, known as much for his tireless work ethic as for his kind-hearted nature. Beyond his professional life, John was a man of simple, joyful pleasures. Whether he was fishing, tending to his orchids, or dancing the night away, he lived with a generosity of spirit that left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

John spent 20 wonderful years with his partner, Milagros. He was the father of Fiona, and Sarah; and Marcus who left us way too early. He was the proud grandfather to Donovan, Natalie, Jessica, Luke and Toby. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, storytelling, and the memory of a life truly well-lived. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends who were lucky enough to know his kind spirit and generosity.

Services will be held at El Camino Memorial Park, Sorrento Valley on March 31st at 12pm.
