John Bain Culton passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 in his home in Cocoa Beach, Florida, after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

His greatest treasures were his four children, their wonderful spouses, and his 15 grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Bumpy." He was committed to blessing those he loved at every parting, and with a resilient spirit he held to that tradition even in his final days.

Bain is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Bain and Frances Culton. He is survived by his sister Mary Jane Johnson.

He was an excellent athlete and lettered in several sports, but ultimately chose to accept a football scholarship to Georgia Tech. He was valedictorian in junior high school and salutatorian in high school. He graduated from Georgia Tech with an advanced degree in mathematics.

Bain was also a passionate student of the Bible which extended into a lifetime pursuit of everything pertaining to creation and science. This broadened his ability to teach math in both private and public schools from kindergarten through adult education. He also taught real estate and real estate law. His love for math led him to understand and appreciate creation through the connection of math and his affinity for classical music.

He was passionate about the power of the spoken word and believed: "Life and death is in the power of the tongue" Proverbs 18:21. This conviction caused him to be a kind, encouraging and positive husband, father, teacher and grandfather.

His last words were a whispered, but clear "I love you too" to his wife and best friend of 52 years, Patti Culton.

Though our hearts are broken, we do not mourn as those without hope, and we look forward to seeing him again.

A memorial service will be held on December 27th at 1:30pm at Destiny Christian Fellowship, 700 S Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32952.
