It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Brooks Dennis who, after a lengthy illness, longingly entered Heaven on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.
Brooks is survived by his wife Ann D Dennis, his 3 sons, Blake Dennis (Hannah), Cole Dennis (Aria), Cameron Dennis (Maddi), three grand dogs (Zelda, Humphrey & Nyla) and his sister Peggy Glunt of Kansas. We will forever cherish the memories shared and the lessons imparted. Brooks's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Brooks, affectionally known a "Pops", leaves behind a family who meant the world to him and who will miss him more than words can say.
He was an innovator and always found a way to fix anything broken and give his family most of what they wanted, even things seemingly out of his means. What mattered most to him was seeing the smile on his loved one's face. His love language was in doing things for you or helping solve a problem.
Pops was hardheaded, outspoken and never afraid to stand up for himself or his beliefs. He spoke his mind, welcomed a good debate, and could engage with just about anyone with passion and conviction. A great storyteller, he could regale you with many stories of his ancestors, friends and childhood memories.
Aside from his family, Pops had a deep love for good music and great food. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and couldn't resist a hearty meal or a sweet dessert. One of his favorite movies was Almost Famous, and one of his most played songs on guitar was" Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers.
Pops will be remembered for his strong personality, his love for his family and the lasting impact he made on everyone around him. He leaves behind memories, stories to be told for generations, a character unable to replicate and a presence that will never be forgotten.
