John (Jack) Douglass Dignan
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Douglass Dignan. From his boisterous laugh to his inquisitive nature, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Jack was the eldest of 4 children, born 1935 in Detroit MI to loving parents Donald W and Bertha M (Luoma) Dignan. Jack's family moved to Dearborn by the time he was 4 yrs old. His family grew with brother James (Jim) 1939, Donald in 1946 and sister Mary Beth in 1949.
Jack graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Dearborn in 1953. Jack encouraged his Class of '53 alum to stay in touch and he always tried to attend class reunions.
Jack graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. In 1960 Jack made a permanent move to Southern California. Starting with North American Aviation, Jack eventually chose to move into the world of finance. He found fulfillment as a stockbroker and in late years in investment banking.
He served as an usher for Saint John the Baptist Church in Costa Mesa for over 40 years and attended Mass weekly. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jack was always interested in new ideas and enthusiastically promoted them.
Jack was predeceased by his brother Jim (1954), his parents Bertha (2004) and Donald (2005) and his brother-in-law Joseph Oravec (2024).
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Debbie and their nine children: Martin (wife Beng), Erin, Jack Jr., James (wife Simona), Sean (Carol), Brennan (wife Lindsey), Casey (wife Debbie), Kelly (wife Angie), and Molly (husband Ryan).
He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews. He is survived by his brother Don Dignan (Nancy) and sister Mary Beth Oravec.
