John P. Doucette of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026,
in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Born on May 18, 1947, in Plainfield, New Jersey, John was the son of John Nicholas Doucette and Rose Mariette (LeBlanc) Doucette.
John was raised in the Catholic faith and served as an altar boy. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. A 1965 graduate of King Philip Regional High School, he attended Lowell Tech before enlisting in the Air Force in 1968. He rose to the rank of sergeant while serving his country in Vietnam. He was stationed at Phan Rang Air Base as a Weapons Specialist and served as a crew chief for the F-4 Phantom fighter-bomber. After returning to the United States, he was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona.
Upon honorable discharge, John worked at Honeywell and Motorola while completing his engineering degree at Arizona State University. He also worked at ITT Courier. He later moved to Washington state and took a job at Intermec Technologies Corp. John worked for Open Connect Systems in Dallas before moving to Massachusetts, where he worked for Digital, then Compaq. After HP bought Compaq, John worked for Home Depot and then Alpha Omega Instruments until he retired. He was proud of the life he built through discipline, hard work, and perseverance.
A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, John loved the open road and especially admired Honda Goldwing bikes. He held a lifelong connection to the Southwest, and that region remained close to him and to those who loved him.
His hobbies included fishing, golf, nature walks, and visiting museums. He was a history buff. While crossword puzzles and word games had always been a part of his life, jigsaw puzzles became a good part during the last couple of years. After moving to Franklin, John became a member at the Franklin Senior Center, going in on a regular basis for a cup of coffee and to associate with everyone there. When he retired, he joined the Bellingham Senior Center Men's Group for more than a decade. He soon became an integral part of the group, consistently pursuing excellence and applying his leadership skills.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, John Nicholas Doucette and Rose Mariette (LeBlanc) Doucette, his son Derek Doucette, and his grandson Tyler Doucette.
