Send Flowers Plant A Tree

John Henry Esquirol passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025 at 96 years old, with his wife Bridget at his side. Born in Brooklyn in 1929, John moved to Garden City as a child where he enrolled at St. Paul's School.

He graduated from Amherst College in 1950 with a degree in Economics and from Harvard Law School in 1953 and then started his career in general law in Connecticut.

In 1959, he was hired by Polaroid Corporation to assist Edwin Land and a team of inventors create and protect the trademarks for their 'instant photography' systems. John retired in 1994 after 34 years based at their Cambridge headquarters.

John was an avid sailor in his youth and the sports editor for his school newspaper. He followed sports ardently from a young age, especially his school and home teams, namely the Lord Jeffs, the Red Sox and the Celtics.

He and his wife Bridget spent summers at their home in Harpswell, Maine, and they enjoyed many visits south to see his daughter and grandchildren as well as trips to Bridget's native England. John was always grateful for his loving family, and was blessed to have had the opportunity for final goodbyes in his waning days.

John was survived by his wife Bridget, his brother Howard, four children, Anne Palmer, Clive Oram, Katherine Oram Bini, John Oram, his six grandchildren Spencer Rigsby, Beau Ginn, Miles Oram, Lukas Oram, Michaela Bini and Gianluca Bini, and one great-grand-daughter, Madeline Rigsby.
