John Kevin Ezzell, 62, of Plainfield, Connecticut, passed away on February 23, 2026. Born on June 20th 1963, in Putnam, Connecticut,, but John was a lifelong resident of the area.

John dedicated his life to his family and his work. He was a truck driver by trade, spending years at Yaworski's in Canterbury before establishing his own business, Ezzell Trucking. For the past 16 years, he worked at Millstone and was a proud member of Local Teamsters 493. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his career and served as an inspiration to those around him.

Family was at the heart of John's life. He is survived by his three children: Alicia Larocque (Brunsdon) and her husband Kevin of Ashford; Zachary Ezzell and his wife Castine of Plainfield; and Ethan Ezzell and his wife Kayla of Canterbury. John's love for his grandchildren—Maxine, Henry, and Amelia—was boundless. Becoming "Grampa" brought him immense joy in recent years as he embraced this cherished role with enthusiasm and devotion.

John is also survived by his siblings: Sandra Parsons of Plainfield; Paul Ezzell and his wife Paula of Sterling; Bill Ezzell and his wife Lynell of Sterling; Rick Ezzell and his husband Denniz of Groton; and Tom Ezzell of Lisbon. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose (Malbourn) Ezzell and James Ezzell of Sterling, as well as his brother Ron Ezzell of North Carolina. The extended Ezzell family includes a vast number of nieces and nephews who will remember John fondly.

John's love spanned many years before getting married to his beloved wife, Christine in April of 1987 Their love story spanned decades, marked by unwavering support for one another through life's challenges. When Christine was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, John became her devoted caregiver, rarely leaving her side during her illness—a testament to the profound love they shared.

In addition to spending time with his family, John found joy in riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle alongside his sons. He could often be found cheering on youth sports at little league baseball fields or supporting activities at Central Cycle Club when his children were younger.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the springtime to honor both John's memory and that of Christine's. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a cancer charity of your choice in John's honor.

John's legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and an enduring love for those closest to him. May the memories he created bring comfort to all who knew him.
