Mr. John Faulhaber, 91, of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. Born on July 4, 1934, in Davenport, Iowa, to Alma (née Wegner) and Fred Faulhaber, John lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and an appreciation for meaningful connections.
John served proudly and honorably as a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa. The discipline and commitment he embraced during his military service shaped his character and guided him throughout his life. After returning home, John pursued a career as an accountant and earned his CPA designation. His sharp mind and principled approach to his work reflected his belief that rules and systems should always be applied with kindness and humanity. He was known for focusing on the needs of individuals while maintaining integrity in all that he did.
A devoted husband to Mary Ann (née Welker), John cherished their life together and took great pride in their family. He was a loving father to their four children: Michael John; Tina Marie (Ray); Jennifer Ann (Ken); and Kathryn Louise (Chris). His role as a grandfather brought him great joy as he celebrated the lives of his eleven grandchildren: Caitlyn, Sarah, Rebecca Faulhaber; Laura Blessington (née Dobry) (Brendan); Michelle Dobry; Juliana Callahan (née Dobry) (Ryan); Jessica Meeker (Michael); Jack Meeker (Leighann); Melissa Meeker (Eben); Lily and Luke Ellor. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Emma, Noah, and Aidan Blessington (Laura and Brendan), and Miles Anderson (Jessica and Michael). Each held a special place in his heart.
John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alma (née Wegner) and Fred Faulhaber, and his sisters Joan Fleming (née Faulhaber) and Jill Faulhaber.
Rarely without a strong dark roast cup of coffee in hand, John could often be found at the sunroom table with a newspaper or stack of mail nearby. He made a memorable pot roast that became a symbol of comfort at family meals. His face would light up whenever loved ones walked through the door—a testament to how deeply he valued time with family and friends.
John was strong and capable, a tall man with a large presence, but never the loudest person in the room. He welcomed thoughtful debate, ready to listen and learn from the people in his life. He made everyone around him feel valued through his genuine interest in their lives. He was a true role model in the way he carried himself and treated others. He was always present, offering steady support and genuine care for whatever was happening in our lives. He instilled important values and taught countless skills and lessons, some recognized in the moment and others revealed with the passage of time.
Though John has gone home to heaven, the love and strength he shared remain with us. He often ended his prayers with the words, 'Help us be more of You and less of ourselves,' a reflection of the humility and faith that guided his life. May we carry forward the lessons of his unwavering love and quiet strength, taking comfort in knowing his spirit remains close, watching over us with the same steady care he gave throughout his time on earth.
