John Gillman

On Wednesday March 4th 2026 we lost our beloved husband, dad and grandfather John Charles Gillman. Jack was born April 17, 1938 in Philadelphia where he shared his early years with his parents Marion and Willard and two sisters Judith and Marion. He graduated from St. James Elementary School and West Catholic High School in 1957. He was also proud to have served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran.
On October 11, 1969 Jack (Bear) married his great love Diane, their marriage was a testament to love built on mutual respect and simple shared joys. Jack worked as a printer for 35 years, his work ethic was unparalleled often working long hours to ensure comfort and security of his family who he loved dearly.
Jack loved spending his summers in Cape May, working on his tan and playing in the ocean with his daughters and grandson, all while enjoying a cigar and a beer.
He was a dedicated dad to Lisa and Lana as he never missed a chance to praise his girls achievements. As an avid animal lover he was also "dad" to many beloved dogs over the years, especially his little girl Lulu. But perhaps his favorite title was Pop Pop to his grandson Rian.
He was a man known for his quiet demeaner, gentleness and dry sense of humor.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2026 with a viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. and mass immediately after at 10:30 at St. Cecilia's Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
