John "Guy" Gersich

John “Guy” Gersich, 77, passed away in his sleep in Edgar, WI on December 23, 2025. He had been living with Parkinson’s Disease upon diagnosis in 2010 and more recently had a heart attack on December 15, 2025. Guy spent his early childhood years in Northern Wisconsin and moved with his family to Waukegan, IL where he attended school. He was involved in Waukegan High School athletics playing basketball, football and his favorite sport, baseball. Guy attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, received an MBA from Roosevelt University, and worked at Abbott Laboratories for 35 years.

In high school and college, Guy dated Carolyn Winters whom he married in 1974. She was blessed to have him for her husband. They enjoyed attending basketball, baseball, football games, and traveling, including a few trips to Europe. Guy and Carolyn have three daughters Sara “Justine” Gersich, Maren (Anthony Perry) Gersich, and Suzanne (Dave) Huss. Guy was an unselfish, loving, generous, considerate husband. He was a patient, supportive, devoted father who enjoyed coaching his daughters in youth sports and participating in YMCA Indian Princesses with them. Guy was constantly concerned about other people whether neighbors or strangers and volunteered at PADS Emergency Housing Shelter and COOL Food Panty. He made friends easily talking to everybody wherever he went. Playing with his grandchildren Skylar Huss, Josie Huss, Theo Huss, & Griffin Huss and attending their activities gave him great joy.

Aside from his wife, daughters and grandchildren, Guy is survived by his brother James (Lois) Gersich and their son Luke, daughter Lianne and her children, Aunt Susie and Uncle Chucker Johnson and their family, along with many cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents John “Bud” and Helen Gersich, his Uncle Eddie Gersich who was a great friend to him along with other family members who will rejoice to be with him again.

He will be dearly missed by his family and everybody who knew him.

A Memorial Service is planned for January 24, 2026 at 9:30 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church located at 824 N. Lewis Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085. Following the service there will be light refreshments and time to greet with Guy’s family in the gathering space.
