John Stephen Hawriluk, age 71, of North Port, FL, passed away on December 18, 2025. Born on January 23, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ to the late John and Pauline (Bunio) Hawriluk.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (Doyle) Hawriluk, daughter Jennifer (Hawriluk) Saldibar and her husband John, sister Paula (Hawriluk) Marchica and her husband Lawrence, and brother Stephen and his wife Julie (Friedman) Hawriluk. John leaves behind a loving circle of family and friends, including his aunt Lillian Gfroehrer, cousins Maryann Mawson and Bill Carroll, and his wonderful friend John Fleming, as well as several nephews and additional cousins.
John was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a Sergeant. During his time in the service, he specialized as an Avionic Sensor Systems Specialist and was honored with the Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
Throughout his professional life, John served as a project manager, overseeing the development and implementation of telecommunications equipment, flat panel displays, and solar panel technologies. He eventually became the Postmaster for the United States Postal Service.
In addition to serving his country, John also served his community by supporting various charities and people in need. His friendship and generosity will be greatly missed.
Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, FL. The interment will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery on January 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or
Shriners Hospitals for Children.
