John Samuel Hayes, Jr. (Bud) was born in Weatherford, Texas on June 1, 1945 to John Hayes, Sr and Margaret Hayes. He passed away at his home on January 9, 2026.
John grew up in Peaster, TX with his family, including Brother, David and Sister Carol.
He met Sherry Ann Melson and the two were married in 1964. They had three children, Shawna, Shelly and John.
After injuries in the rodeo arena and a major work accident, John began working in the auto repair industry and met Cindy Lea Cato of Weatherford. They had 2 children, Josh and Stormi.
In the late 90s, John was introduced to Christ and felt it was his, and his then wife Patti’s mission to start a church just outside of Brownwood, TX.
Years later, he met his wife Jennifer Thomas, of Joshua, and the two were married in 2022.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting and working outside.
John was preceded in death his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his children, Shawna Buckhanon, and husband Greg of Sycamore, GA; Shelly Allain of Fort Worth; John Hayes III, of Mineral Wells; Josh Hayes and wife Elizabeth of Benbrook; and Stormi Hayes of Weatherford. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be missed by his family and everyone that loved him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
The family will have a private service.
