John Richard Kamm, aged 78, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Akron, OH. Born on May 6, 1947, John devoted much of his life to service, both in the military and in his community.
John served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, a period during which he developed a deep bond with his fellow servicemen and a strong sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he retired from BICO, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie.
He was a passionate sports enthusiast and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. At these organizations, he held significant roles such as commander and was a proud member of the Color Guard, reflecting his ongoing commitment to service.
John was deeply involved with the First Baptist Church of Barberton, where he found a community of faith that supported him throughout his life. His spiritual life was important to him, and he participated actively in church activities.
Surviving John is his cherished partner, Georgia Cope, the love of his life; his sister, Linda (Chuck) White; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Miller and Kelsey Kamm; grandchildren, Kramer, Nicolas, Robby, Keelan, Brett, and Avah; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Giovanni, and Annabell. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Kamm; his brother, James Kamm; and his nephew, Mark White.
A service in his honor will be held at the First Baptist Church of Barberton on November 14, 2025, at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Barberton, supporting a place that was very dear to him.
John's legacy of service and community involvement will be remembered by all who knew him, and his stories of dedication and service will continue to inspire.
