John Laval was the first of two sons born to Helen (Corgee) and Al (Abe) Laval on February 10th, 1944, in Abington, Pennsylvania. He spent his early years in Clifton, New Jersey, and although he primarily worked in New York as a court clerk/librarian, John lived in New Jersey in his later years.
John studied banking and finance at Monmouth College, Pace University, China Institute in America, and Henry George School of Social Science, and completed a computer course at Brookdale Community College. He was a member of the Army National Guard, participated in the election process for the Monmouth County Board of Elections and worked at a local food pantry. Since 2020 John enjoyed a quiet life in Keyport on the top floor of Bethany Manor with a fabulous view of New York City where he continued long personal relationships he nurtured through international correspondence with friends.
John was an enthusiastic coin and license plate collector and was surrounded by postcards and pictures of historical people and places, national parks, and many travel locations that captured his interest and imagination. John never missed a birthday or holiday card, much like his mother, and kept in touch with his family members and friends. John also supported many patriotic groups such as The National WWII Museum and enjoyed collegiate and professional sports.
John was predeceased by his parents and sibling Richard (Carole) and is survived by his sister-in-law, niece and nephews, cousins and friends.
