John Andrew Lockwood, a respected professional Hydrogeologist and resident of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on December 16, 1961, in Lansing, MI, John was the son of the late William L. And Marsha Johnson Lockwood.
John was a proud graduate of Nutrier High School and later earned his degree in geology from the University of Kansas. An ardent fan of the Jayhawks, he carried his passion for Kansas basketball and geology. John dedicated nearly 30 years of his career to the South Florida Water Management District, where he was highly regarded by his colleagues for his expertise and commitment.
In 2001, John married his loving wife, Joy Romney Lockwood. Together they shared 25 years of marriage. John was a man of diverse interests, finding great joy in live music and festivals. Known for his unique sense of human, he was a constant source of entertainment for those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy, and his stepchildren, Jessica Dabbs Kresko (Bob), Meghan Dabbs (Paul Anderson), and grandson McCoy Kresko. John also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Mary Lockwood Gokcen (Veysel), Stephen Lockwood (Selene), and Margaret (Madge) Lockwood (Lenny Cicero) as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
