John Thomas MacIsaac III, 79, passed away on January 28, 2026, at his home in Seneca, South Carolina.
John grew up in Eden, North Carolina, where he formed lifelong friendships. He was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina and a veteran of the United States Navy. He spent much of his adult life in Marietta, Georgia, where he raised his family and built lasting relationships, before settling on Lake Keowee in Seneca, South Carolina, where he lived for the past 25 years.
John dedicated 33 years of his professional life to Victaulic, where he built a long and respected career before retiring. He was known for his commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic.
John never met a stranger. He had an incredible sense of humor, a seemingly endless collection of sayings and phrases, and an uncanny ability to connect with people from every walk of life. Conversation came naturally to him, and he genuinely loved people.
He was deeply devoted to his wife, Sally. Their story began early as they grew up as neighbors. That lifelong bond became the foundation of their family. As a husband, father, and grandfather, John was steady, present, and always available. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Mac," the same name his own father was known by, a simple tradition that connected generations and meant a great deal to him.
John loved staying active, exercising regularly, and spending time on the lake, where he found joy and peace with family and friends. A two-time cancer survivor, he faced life's challenges with resilience, determination, and quiet strength.
His passing was unexpected, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally MacIsaac; his sons, Elliott MacIsaac and Patrick MacIsaac; daughters-in-law Hilary MacIsaac and Jodi MacIsaac; and his grandchildren, Davis, Ellie, and Grant MacIsaac, and Scarlett MacIsaac.
A celebration of John's life will be announced at a later date.
