John "Jack" Maslowsky passed away on January 10, 2026, in Leonard, Michigan. Born on August 2, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, Jack lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, and deep devotion to his family.

A proud graduate of Berkley High School, Jack often joked that he also held a PhD in roofing—a nod to the hands-on expertise and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped his career. From his first startup as an eight-year-old bicycle repairman, Jack went on to found and lead more than half a dozen successful companies across the landscaping, roofing, and construction industries. He was an entrepreneur through and through—driven not only by ambition but by a genuine love for building things that lasted.

Jack took immense pride in his work. It was not uncommon for him to point out buildings with a smile and say to anyone nearby, "I put the roof on that building!" His word was his bond; he earned the trust of clients and colleagues alike through honesty and follow-through. As a boss, he was both caring and devoted—qualities that inspired loyalty among employees who stayed with him for nearly thirty years and considered him not just an employer but a true friend.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack was a generous man whose heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Cheri; daughters Julie, Jennifer, and Jillian; and five cherished grandchildren. His love for them was evident in every aspect of his life—from family gatherings to quiet moments spent together at home or outdoors. Jack was the ultimate "girl dad" who prided himself on raising "farm girls"-- strong, capable, educated, and independent daughters. To his extended family, he was the ultimate supporter, cheerleader, problem solver, and advice giver. He would go out of his way and literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Jack's passions extended beyond work and family. Though he was born a city boy, he spent the majority of his adulthood on his beloved Rockin' M farm, where he raised his family and countless horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. He loved nothing more than mowing the grass in the pasture for hours on end. He found joy in fishing trips and sailing adventures, exploring new places through travel, cheering on Detroit's sports teams, and simply being surrounded by those he loved most. Whether casting a line into calm waters or navigating the open road with Cheri by his side, Jack embraced life with courage and enthusiasm.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fil and Helen Maslowsky; sister Joy Dafoe; and brother Gerald Maslowsky.

Jack will be remembered as a brave and hardworking man who lived with purpose and gave generously of himself—to his family, friends, employees, and community. His legacy lives on in the roofs he built, the businesses he nurtured, the lives he touched—and most of all—in the hearts of those who knew him best.

May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
