John Charles "Charlie" Mickler, who preferred to go by Charles, was born July 6, 1980 and returned to the stars on February 20, 2026. He was an extraordinary man known for his wit, generosity, and a thoughtful soul that brightened the world around him. Decorated with a beautiful spirit, his life was a testament of love, light, and laughter, leaving an immeasurable legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.

Charles was the beloved brother of Kelly Mickler, who survives him. Their bond, forged by time and love, was so strong it rendered them inseparable. In Charles' passing, Kelly has lost not just a brother, but a true soulmate. Their story together is one of love, resilience and shared memories that Kelly will uphold, honor and cherish for the rest of her life. He is survived by his devoted partner, Steven, with whom he shared countless adventures with over the past 11 years. He is also survived by his parents, half-sister and her three beautiful children, his paternal grandmother, three amazing aunts, his adventurous uncle, and an array of countless decades-long friends and companions through his journey of life.

A highly accomplished individual, Charles was a graduate of Daphne High School, Class of 1998. His numerous achievements included roles as a trumpet player in band, Drum Major and a competitive swimmer. His talents and passions spanned far and wide, ranging from being an avid writer with a creative spirit to his love of music. He enjoyed journaling and expressing his thoughts through words. His love for his pets was evident, and he took great pride in his gardening and planting endeavors. With a knack for organization and a keen eye for interior design, he loved creating functional spaces and keeping things tidy. He also had a blast dancing and going to costume and themed parties, where his spirit truly shined.

Charles' favorite movie, E.T., reflected his adventurous spirit and belief in the extraordinary. A lover of the arts and beautiful places, he had an affinity for San Francisco, one of his favorite spots.

Charles' greatest accomplishment, however, was the love he gave and received. His life was a beacon of love, light, and laughter that brought joy to everyone around him. Charles' life will always be remembered for its extraordinary vibrancy and warmth. He will be missed eternally by all and loved beyond measure.

In the words of his sister Kelly, "May you finally be in peace, dear brother. I will spend the rest of my life honoring you. Love you always and forever."
