John Joseph Mooney-Pendergrass ("Tank")
March 7, 1999 - January 23, 2026
With heavy hearts and endless love, we share the passing of John Joseph Mooney while surrounded by Family.
John was the kind of person you don't just meet — you remember forever. He had a larger-than-life presence, a contagious laugh, and a way of making every room brighter simply by walking into it. He was hilarious, tender-hearted, and endlessly genuine, he had the rare gift of turning strangers into friends and friends into family.
He was an amazing singer, although too shy to sing around anyone but mama, and he gave the kind of bear hugs that made you feel safe and at home. John had talent for drawing which consisted pretty much anything. John cared so deeply for others — always checking in, always showing up, always ready to lift someone's spirits. He used this passion to serve the community as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. His heart was big, steady, and protective, matching the nickname everyone gave him.
John lived with passion and adventure. He loved riding motorcycles, all things cars, chasing dreams, and talking about all the plans he had for the future. Johns love for the Lord could be seen by his soft spirit and interaction with others. He was never afraid to tell you about Jesus and how you needed to get right with the Lord. He carried a spunky, free spirit that made life feel lighter and more exciting for everyone around him. When John was in the room, everyone was laughing. He could make the room roll with laughter with his free spirit and humor.
Above all, John loved his family fiercely. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Kendall Allen Pendergrass. He is deeply missed by his parents, Jennifer and Kyle Pendergrass; his sisters, Calyn and Emma; and his beloved child, Kylhn, who will forever carry his strength and light, grandparents, aunt and uncles, cousins, and all those who had the chance to know him. He also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were better simply because he was part of them.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we know where he is and will join him one day. We will hold tightly to the laughter, the music, the hugs, and the beautiful memories he gave us. John was truly one of a kind — our protector, our joy, our guy.
We miss him more than words can say and will carry his love with us always.
