John Charles Morland (1953-2026)
John Charles Morland, 72, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida after a brave, two-year battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. He passed peacefully and comfortably at home with loved ones, listening to his favorite era of music from his youth.
John was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania on September 5, 1953, to Robert Morland and Margaret (Speak) Morland, the third child of six, four brothers (William, Robert, Thomas, and James) and sister (Janet). John attended Upper Darby High School, graduating in 1972. After high school, John was a welder in his early life, then ran a food truck where he brought sandwiches and laughs to local businesses.
In 1985, John married Nancy (Trent) Gallagher, becoming stepfather to her two children, William (Leo) and Laura. In February 23, 1983, Nancy gave birth to their daughter, Mary. The family relocated to Fort Myers, Florida in 1991, where John opened a private pest control company, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2014.
Tragically, in 1995, Nancy passed away. John re-married Carrie (Luce) Pike, the couple spending 28 years together before his death. While married, John became stepdad to Carrie's son, David, and Pop Pop to granddaughter Vivian.
John was known to everyone who interacted with him as a funny, happy man. He loved traveling, music, spending time with his family, playing cards, bowling, and most of all, making people laugh. He never turned down an opportunity to help friends, family and neighbors, and will always be remembered with a joyous smile on his face. He will be forever missed, our hearts are so grateful for the happiness that he brought to our lives.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy, stepdaughter Laura, brother Robert and sister Janet; he is survived by his second wife, Carrie, daughter Mary, stepsons Leo (Mary) and David (Laura), granddaughter Vivian, and brothers William, Thomas and James.
