John Francis O'Donnell of Boonton Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at Morristown Hospital Hospice. He was 75.
Born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, John was the cherished son of Eleanor (née Sullivan) and John "Oatsy" O'Donnell. He was a graduate of St. Henry's School, St. Peter's Prep, and Saint Peter's University. He earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall Law School.
Throughout his long career, John's work helped shape numerous real estate and business developments across New Jersey. His integrity, intellect, and steadfast dedication earned him the admiration of both colleagues and clients.
John was a devoted and loving father to his two sons, John F. O'Donnell Jr. and Michael O'Donnell. His first marriage was to Pamela O'Donnell, their mother. His second wife was Judith O'Donnell, with whom he shared two stepchildren and two grandsons who brought him great joy.
He is also survived by his sister, Eileen O'Donnell; brother, Patrick O'Donnell; dear friend, Ellen Mihalcin; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
John's generosity, devotion to family, and elegant sense of style defined him. He was well versed in history and politics. A wonderful cook and skilled card player, John presided over many happy gatherings. His perceptive intellect and wisdom will be deeply missed.
John was wholly devoted to his beloved canine companions, who returned his affection in kind.
In accordance with his wishes, John requested a private burial ceremony. He will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
