John Stephen Ray

John Stephen Ray died Dec. 22, 2025 at age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Carmela Ray.

Dating to the time of his birth, John would be faced with many challenges related to his physical and developmental issues. He always had a positive attitude and his life was filled with love and joy. He was the bravest and kindest person you would ever want to know.

John had many interests. He loved movies and had a huge collection. He participated in the many activities with his community at Pillar and was proud of his work in the day program. He was a devoted fan of Santa, Elvis and John Wayne.

He is survived by his extended family of residents and staff at Pillar and by his siblings: Dennis, Mike, Betty and Tom, who was his guardian. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

John's family will be forever grateful for the excellent care and love extended to him at Pillar, formerly Apple Patch. This was truly his home and he had lived there for nearly 20 years.

He will be missed by all who had come to know him.

A celebration of life will be held at the Pillar Chapel in Crestwood on Sat. Jan.10th at 1:30 PM. Gifts in John's memory can be made to Pillar or to a charity of your choice.
