John C. Richardson was born on May 16, 1959, in Riverside, California. He grew up between Minnesota and Southern California, shaping a life filled with adventure and passion. In Spring Valley, Minnesota, he lived with his father, Curtis Richardson, and became a standout athlete on the high school football team.
John later earned his degree in political science from the University of Minnesota. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, he followed his team no matter the record, often flying across the country just to be in the stands. Supporting the Vikings wasn't just a hobby for John—it was part of who he was.
During his teenage years, John spent summers in Southern California with his mother, Jennifer, and his brother, Todd. He loved the beach, the sun, and the rhythm of Laguna Beach. He was exceptional on a dirt bike, often riding through the hills of Trabuco Canyon until sunset.
After college, John proudly served as a United States Marine. He went on to marry and became a proud father to two children, Alexandra and Steven. He later settled in Portland, Oregon, where he worked within the school system and local colleges.
John loved the outdoors, especially winter sports. Cross-country skiing became one of his favorite ways to connect with nature. Music and cars were lifelong passions as well—he was a gifted guitarist and singer, and in another life, he could have been a rock star.
He was funny, smart, handsome, and more than a little mischievous—traits that stayed with him throughout his life and made him unforgettable to the people who knew him.
In his later years, John cared for his mother and faced his health challenges with dignity and resolve. John was tough—physically, mentally, and in the way he pushed through whatever life put in front of him.
John will be remembered for his passions, his talents, his service, and the way he lived his life on his own terms. His memory will live on in all who knew him. John, we love you and will miss you
