John Carter Richie

John Carter Richie, 72, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on November 19, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, John lived a life marked by faith, family, and a deep commitment to mentoring others.

John met Jesus during his college years and remained steadfast in his relationship with Him throughout his life. For 42 years, he was an active member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta. There, he served in numerous capacities, including teaching Sunday School and mentoring younger men. His passion for guiding others extended beyond the church walls as he spent much of his time coaching and mentoring men from all walks of life. For the last twenty years of his life, he found his true calling in coaching business executives through the company he founded called Venture.

John shared 49 years of marriage with his wife, Martha. Together, they raised three children: Katherine "Katie" Kang (Seung Hwan), Thomas Richie (Melissa), and Claire Jacobson (David). John cherished his role as "Pops" to Vale, Benjamin, Beck, Calvin, William, Henry, Madelyn, Elinor, and Penelope. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Pauline Richie, as well as his sister Marty Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Radical Mentoring (RadicalMentoring.com) or Right From The Heart Ministries (Rightfromtheheart.org).

John Richie will be remembered for the lives he touched through his guidance and encouragement. A Funeral Service will be held on March 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
