+WASHINGTON CROSSING - John Corbett Sager Sr. (Jack, Grandpa), of Washington Crossing, PA passed away on Sunday February 1, 2026. He was 88 years old.
Jack was born on December 5, 1937 in Auburn, NY. He was the son of the late John and Reva (Corbett) Sager, and brother of the late Barbara Minners and Judith Martin.
He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Carol (Bench) Sager. They were high school sweethearts at Auburn High.
Jack worked in the chemical industry for over 45 years as a chemist, superintendent, plant manager, and ultimately as a regional manager in several locations including Hanover MA, Skaneateles NY, Joliet IL, and Morrisville PA. He was highly touted for his ability to rejuvenate struggling facilities, improving their profitability and safety. After retirement, he worked with his son John Jr. in his cabinet business and with his wife Carol in the real estate business.
From the very beginning, Carol and Jack considered family their most cherished blessing. Their life was full of family travel, camping, sporting events, band concerts, soccer games, and time at church. A man of great faith, he was a member of Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church for nearly 50 years, where he served as a deacon, elder, sang in the choir, and volunteered extensively in many areas whenever needed. Jack loved sports, both as a participant, and as an avid fan, teaching and watching his children and grandchildren. He loved to go boating with Carol and family, and taught dozens of kids how to waterski. He was known for his famous one legged waterski trick which he performed to his grandchildren's delight until he was 79 years old! Jack was also an avid photographer and enjoyed working with all types of audio video devices over the years. He was affectionately known as "Smilin' Jack" on the CB radio. During COVID, Jack digitized over 17,000 slides! He also enjoyed tennis, skiing and golf. In their later years, Jack and Carol enjoyed riding their trikes through the neighborhood as well as Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. From little leagues to the major leagues, Jack may have watched more baseball and soccer than anyone on the planet.
Jack had a strong work ethic which he instilled in his children. He was THE "Jack of all trades", always lending a helping hand to whoever needed it. There was nothing he couldn't fix, and no tool he didn't own. In addition to doing the work, he was always happy to train anyone who wanted to learn.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his six children: Deb (Sager) Comeau (Clayton), John Sager Jr. (Moira), Tim Sager (Terry), Jeff Sager (Kim), Phil Sager (Colleen) and Jacklyn (Sager) Robbins (Shaun). He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren: Joy Wrenn, Greg Dralle, Scott Comeau, Chad Comeau, Erin Tate, J.C. Sager, Christopher Sager, Kevin Meacham, Jack Meacham, Chris Moon, Cathy Shaffer, Stephanie Loughery, Ryan Sager, Alec Sager, Keira Sager, Gavin Sager, Owen Sager, Aiden Robbins, Ashton Robbins, and Emerson Robbins. Also survived by 12 great grandchildren: Abby Wrenn, Anna and Parker Dralle, Sawyer Comeau, Dylan and Ryleigh Tate, Cooper, Wyatt, and Penn Sager, Carter and Emily Moon, and Charlotte Loughery.
The family is comforted to know that Jack is in heaven with his Savior and no longer in pain. A celebration in memory of Jack will be held at a future date.
