Doylestown, OH — John P. Shaver, affectionately known as "Chip," passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on April 28, 1957, to Ernestine "Jo" and the late John H. Shaver Jr., John lived a life marked by faith, passion, dedication, and love. His presence brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
John is survived by his family: children Spencer "Moe" Shaver (Jennifer Shaver), Alisha "Allie" Evans (David Evans), and Joel Warren (Christine Warren); six grandchildren—Willow, Weston, Carla, Kourtney, Arya, and Jessa; his sister, Susie Knouff-Shaver; and his mother, Ernestine "Jo" Shaver. He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Shaver Jr.
John's life was a testament to God, family, hard work, perseverance, and resiliency. A graduate (1st in his class) of the Bob Bondurant Racing School and a Certified Asset Recovery Specialist, John enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 40 years in commercial sales. John had a lifelong love of horsepower and engines. He could often be found under the hood of a vehicle or sharing stories. While he appreciated speed and precision, his greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved—his family. Fondly called "Pop-Pop" and "Grandpa Chip," John rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's events, celebrate their milestones, and cheer them on in every endeavor.
Family and faith were always at the heart of John's life. He was a man of deep conviction, whose kindness, humor, and generosity touched countless lives. His infectious jokes and laughter could light up any room, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved will never be forgotten.
A service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Barberton First Church of Christ, 552 Harvard Avenue, Barberton, 44203, with a meal to follow. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Christian Charity of your choosing.
Though his passing leaves a profound void and an empty chair at family gatherings, his spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to know him, as he never knew a stranger.
