John R. Simkewicz, 64, of Manchester, CT, passed away on March 16, 2026.
Born on January 25, 1962, John—affectionately known as “The Stud” and “Teflon John”—was a man whose vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
John’s early years in the South End of Hartford helped shape his lifelong love of fast cars, trucks, and storytelling. A city boy at heart, he also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found great joy in boating, camping, and building large campfires—simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness. His love for animals was just as strong, and each of his pets held a special place in his heart.
Professionally, John dedicated his career to appliance repair. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, and his kind, approachable nature made him a trusted and beloved figure in his community.
John leaves behind a loving family, including Kim Dionne and Michael Simkewicz of Manchester, CT; Theresa Breault and her husband, Arthur, of Hebron, CT; and Robbie Simkewicz of Massachusetts. He is also survived by several nieces, his longtime friend and later-life partner, Lynn Berhmann, and his close friend Kevin Boudreau, along with many others who will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his parents, John R. Simkewicz and Marion Dettenborn.
John’s life was a vivid tapestry of love, friendship, and generosity, defined by his unmistakable charisma and the deep connections he formed throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
