John T. Bedford, 77, unexpectedly passed away on December 31, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital, New York. Born on March 6, 1948, in Staten Island, New York, he lived a life marked by service, loyalty, and enduring connections with family and friends.

Raised and educated in Staten Island, John graduated from high school before enlisting in the United States Army. He served his country proudly as a Vietnam Veteran, demonstrating courage and commitment during a pivotal time in American history. His military service remained a point of pride throughout his life.

John was known for his deep love of football and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. Whether watching games or discussing team stats with friends and family, his enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. He cherished time spent with a close circle of friends and especially valued moments shared with his brothers.

He is remembered fondly by those who knew him for his companionship and loyalty. Surviving is his beloved pet Kat, who brought him comfort and joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Alfred H. Bedford of Staten Island, NY; Theodore (Shelly) Bedford; William Bedford of Tellico Plains, TN; Charles (Sue) Bedford; George (Leah) Bedford of Berlin; Kathryn (Don) Goodermote of Petersburg, NY; Denise (Rusty) Anderson of Troy, NY; Elizabeth Lawton of Grafton, NY, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his cherished companion and best friend Cathy Stewart; his son John T. Bedford II; his daughter Jolene A. Bedford; his parents Alfred H. and AnnaMae Bedford; his sisters Diana Richards and Lillian A.; brothers Robert C., Steven E., Richard W., and Edward W.; nephew Richard W. Bedford Jr.; and niece Stacey L. Anderson.

John's memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared in his lifes journey. May his legacy bring comfort to all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring to lay John to rest with his parents and his 3 brothers in Eagle Mills Cemetery, NY.
