It is with great sadness the family of John Irving Tennant announces his sudden and unexpected passing on January 24th 2026. John, age 71 of Oakland, Ca. was the youngest son of the late Hartley and Pauline (Craw) Tennant. He was born April 18, 1954 in Oswego, NY. He is survived by his brother Randy (Barb) Tennant of Syracuse, NY and sister Cindy (Jim) Varner of Rush, NY; companion John Poe of San Francisco, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many close friends. John was predeceased by husband Don George and sisters Jeanne (George) Mazzoli and Marian (Curt) Frey.
John was a graduate of Oswego High School, SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University. He moved to California in the fall of 1986 and was a long time employee of Wells Fargo. John was a kind and tenderhearted man, and loved bowling, tennis and music. Throughout his life he sang in several choirs, choruses and school musicals. He also loved spending time with his dog Dreyfus, with loved ones and walking with friends. There will be private celebrations of his life in both California and New York.
