John Thomas VanAllen

John T Van Allen of Syracuse NY passed away January 12th 2026, peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 75. He was born and raised in the Valley of Syracuse to Willard and Elizabeth (Fish) Van Allen and lived there for most of his life. As you drive around you may unknowingly pass by a building or a house that he helped build/built including his own as he worked as a mason and a construction worker.
He was a troop leader for The Boys Scouts of America in his local area and enjoyed handmaking RC model boats. He moved to PA in 1998 and continued building up until he retired then enjoyed living the quiet life. In 2024 he moved to TX to stay with family where he loved spending time with his loved ones, giving out how to advice on home repairs and sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and the dogs by his side.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Van Allen, son Thomas Van Allen and his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Sandra Van Allen of PA and former spouse Anna Van Allen of NY.
He will be greatly missed and thought of often by all that knew him.
