John Duncan Yocum ("Jack") passed away on August 8, 1998 at home in Edison, New Jersey. He was 75. Jack was born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania to Honora Patricia (Lalley) and Arnott Duncan Yocum.
Jack was a navy veteran and served in North Africa during World War II. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1944 and was a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and The Swedish Colonial Society. After 32 years as Credit Manager at Consolidated Cigar Corporation in New York City, Jack retired in 1989.
In the summer of 1953, Jack met future wife Virginia Larkin ("Ginger") at a drugstore in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. Jack proposed in February 1954, and they wed a few months later that June. They lived in Springfield, Pennsylvania until March 1958. The Yocum family then moved to the Oak Hills neighborhood in Edison where Jack spent many happy years with his wife and five children.
Jack will be remembered for his winning smile, robust laugh, excellent baritone voice, and his open, friendly, and sincere manner. He is survived by his wife Ginger and their five children: Susan, John, Ann, Kathleen, and Jeffrey; daughter-
in-law Debra (wife of John); and grandchildren Sean and Matthew.
Those wishing to pay respects to Jack can visit his grave in Arlington National Cemetery (Sec 66/Site 6295) or his memorial bench at the 30th Street ocean beach in Barnegat Light, NJ.
