John Young, 91 of Omaha, Nebraska was called home to God on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026. John was born August, 30th 1934 to Clifford and Margaret (Haines) Young in Mitchell, SD. He married Shirley Lawson in 1954, and they raised their six children in Norfolk, Nebraska.

John worked for Ma Bell for 39 years, was an active member in the telephone Pioneers Club, and was a member of Knights of Columbus, Toastmasters Club, an award winning American Red Cross Blood donor and an Award winning volunteer at Boys Town in Omaha.

In retirement John never stopped. He was endlessly helping his children and grandchildren with their many home projects, but his true passion was repairing bikes. He donated and repaired bikes for thousands of children over the years at Boys Town campus in Omaha and for the Mary Our Queen rummage sales. John's passion was finding free stuff he could fix, and helping other people fix their things that didn't work. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty and freely gave of his time and treasures.

John is survived by his children: Connie, Steve (Jan), Dan (Kris), Greg (Cathy), Kevin (Susie) and Todd (Margie); twelve grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grand children; brothers: Kenneth (Jan) of Yankton, James (Karen) of Sioux Falls, Keith of Mitchell, Robert (Susan) of Humble, TX, and Joseph of Charlotte, NC; and sisters: Beverly Boyle of Phoenix, AZ, Lois (Chuck) Paulson of Mitchell, Linda (James) Hanson of Castle Rock, CO, Margaret (Gerald) Loomis of Mesa, AZ, Carol (Doug) Oleson of CO, and Judy (Mark) Javersak of MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, brothers Edward and Frances, daughter-in-law Donna, Grandson Chad, brother-in-law James, and sister-in-law, Barb.
